Professor Vince Ramprogus is Pro-Vice-Chancellor with institutional-wide responsibility for health and social care issues, and Dean of the Faculty of Health, Psychology and Social Care.
An academic, manager and practitioner, he joined MMU from the University of Northumbria where he led organisational changes that made it the best UK University for nursing for three years running. He also set up effective partnerships with NHS trusts to create practice research units, oversaw the successful move of North Staffordshire College from the NHS to Keele University, and was one of the pioneering leaders to develop nursing education within HE.
Vince Ramprogus is a former MMU student. He completed clinical courses in both general nursing and mental health and worked in clinical practice until 1984. He has a degree in psychology and an MSc in Nursing whilst his PhD was based on knowledge and professional development in nursing.
Much of his academic career has involved 'management of change' across the health professions that have required innovative approaches to learning, teaching, research and practice. He has published widely and maintains external activities with the Nursing and Midwifery Council, the Healthcare Commission, Department of Health, SHAs and NHS Trusts.
Professor Ramprogus's research interests include inter-professional working in health care, clinical role evolution, knowledge and skills development in practice and the evaluation of professional education.
