Eamonn O'Neal is Managing Editor of MEN Media, publisher of the Manchester Evening News.
He was born in Manchester and was educated at St. Bede's College, Whalley Range, Christ's College of Education, Liverpool and Manchester Metropolitan University.
He was a teacher in Stockport, becoming deputy head teacher at St Mary's Primary School in Heaton Norris and St Winifred's Primary School in Heaton Mersey before leaving the profession to pursue a career in journalism and broadcasting. He was awarded both the Diploma in Management of Education and M.Sc in Education Management (Action Learning) at MMU.
Eamonn presented many programmes for ITV Granada and has been a presenter with BBC Manchester since 1987. After working with ITV Network production in London, he returned to the north west to become Executive Producer of Regional Programmes and Acting Director of Broadcasting at ITV Granada. He has won a number of Royal Television Society Awards for presentation and production. He was a founding member of the Cultural Diversity Network North, of which he became chair and was a board member of North West Vision & Media. Since 2005 he has been a director of Manchester based independent film and television production company Centini .
