About us

Mission statement

The Residential Services Office Mission is:

  • To aim for excellence in the provision of services;
  • To be accessible and responsive to student needs by proactively trying to understand and anticipate requirements;
  • To contribute to ensuring that the overall student experience is of the highest quality.

More specifically we will ensure that we meet the accommodation needs of our University community as follows:

  • Develop and maintain a skilled, friendly and responsive staff;
  • Endeavour to provide a service which is accessible to students
  • Actively promote accommodation services to ensure that benefit to the University community (and beyond, as appropriate) is maximised;
  • Work in partnership with Manchester Student Homes to ensure accessible information and advice is provided in a range of mediums regarding MMU and Private Sector accommodation;
  • Commitment to offering a range of accommodation to suit different needs and budgets;
  • Support Equal Opportunities and welcome applications for accommodation from all students, giving special consideration to first year, students with disabilities, care leavers and those whose homes are furthest from MMU;
  • Provide a supportive welfare system available out of hours to offer advice and assistance;
  • Actively monitor and review service provision on a regular basis, seeking feedback to inform further development;
  • Continuously develop and improve efficiency in all aspects of management.

My experience of halls has been pretty fantastic. Everybody is in the same boat and everybody is here to have fun and muck in together; I’ve made some friends for life through living in halls. Billy Over
