If you’re planning to move away from home when you start university it is important to check out the kind of accommodation available and how much it costs. The University offers a wide choice of rooms, with everything from hotel-style en-suite rooms with internet access to more traditional budget rooms for the cost-conscious.
Coming to live in Manchester or at MMU Cheshire will be an enjoyable experience, and you will have the continued support of all the staff in the University’s support services.
Where you live will depend on where you will be studying, so please ensure you know which campus your programme will be running from.

We try to ensure that Hall places go to students who will benefit most from the experience of living in a residential community of students, which is why we keep the majority of Hall places for first year students. We also give priority to students with special needs and students who live furthest away from the University.
If you follow the links you will be able to view the different accommodation, fees, the services provided, important information and support available and most important of all how to apply online.
We offer the following assurance to new students:
All UK/EU and overseas students in the first year of study; provided they;
… will be able to secure accommodation in student halls of residence (including privately owned halls). Please note applications will be considered on a first come first served basis.
If we receive your application after this date we will endeavour to process your application but forms received before the deadline will take priority.
If you have Manchester Metropolitan University as your insurance offer or if you apply through clearing; you should still apply on-line but you should note that due to the timing of your offer it is unlikely that University accommodation will be offered.
We regret that we are not able to allocate places in MMU Halls to students who live within a 25-mile radius of the University.
We will give special consideration on a case by case basis to local students that are recent care leavers or have a disability.
Students who are not initially offered a place in University accommodation may apply to go on a waiting list; you must contact the Residential Services Office at the beginning of the academic year and register your details on the waiting list. Please note: you will not be automatically included on the waiting list.
If you are a local student in Manchester and would like to live in Halls of Residence in Manchester you still have access to over 30 privately owned halls of residence that are advertised with Manchester Student Homes (the University’s officially approved Housing Bureau). I’ve really enjoyed moving away from home and getting some independence. Living in halls is a great way of getting to know new people who are in the same boat as you; it’s really good fun. Jamie Remp
