One job. Six candidates. Your turn in front of the interview panel. Only one thing will decide it – what you say and do in the next half hour. This is an interactive workshop which will give you the chance to explore the interview experience.

 

By the end of the session, you will:

  • Get practical advice to help minimise nerves and  maximize your performance at interviews.
  • Learn how to prepare and how to handle those difficult interview questions.
  • Find out how to perform with confidence to make that lasting impression.

INNOFLUX competition 2012

Yes it’s that time of year again! The annual inter-faculty INNOFLUX competition is nearly upon us.

 

Competing in INNOFLUX involves working in a team to solve a business problem, using your creativity, knowledge and experience. You’ll also get support from a local business expert.  The day culminates in a 5 minute pitch given by each team to our panel of business executives.  

The day promises strong competition, prizes, and most of all fun!

 These 'Dragons' will then select the winning team and the students who will go on to represent MMU in the National Finals to be held in the Easter vacation. Each member of the winning team will receive £20 worth of Amazon vouchers and a trophy for the team to share.

Participants can expect a rewarding and fun experience that gives a real insight into the business world. The skills learnt during the day are essential for ANY future employment and Innoflux is a great opportunity to demonstrate your talent for project management and team work on your CV. 

 

You can register to take part as a course or Faculty team (each member must sign up) or as an individual (you will be assigned to a relevant team on the day). Anyone can be a team member, with no prior business knowledge necessary at all!

Are you a 2011 MMU graduate who is still looking for that first, challenging, graduate, position? This 2 day interactive course, organised by the Careers and Employability Service in conjunction with the Centre for Enterprise, aims to help. 

Please note that you must be unemployed or still seeking a graduate-level position and a home or EU graduate to be eligible to attend. (If you are still studying unfortunately you are NOT ELIGIBLE for this particular course but see our website to find out about our full employability programme).  You must also be available to attend on both days.

So what does the course involve?

The first day will focus on job-search strategies and job applications. We will discuss using social media and networks to uncover the hidden jobs market and the morning will feature input from a social networking expert who will give tips and advice.  In the afternoon we will be giving advice on producing successful CVs and application forms. Graduates will also take part in a group exercise facilitated by a recruitment professional. 

The second day will focus on creating a good impression at interview. It will feature a consultant giving advice on interviews and personal presentation and all attendees will be given the opportunity to take part in a mock interview, and receive feedback on their performance. There will be an opportunity for you to have your CV checked by a careers adviser.

Here is a typical example of some of the feedback we received from the last course:

 ‘The event was well thought out and extremely helpful. I hope more students get to benefit from future courses.’
