Where’s my nearest recyling hub?
New recycling facilities
are now in your building
Why are we doing this?
We are one of the region’s major economic contributors and have a responsibility to become more sustainable by taking clear steps to reduce the environmental impacts of our business activities.
We’ve introduced internal recycling facilities throughout MMU making recycling easy and accessible for all of our staff and students in a bid to divert as much waste as possible from landfill.
Why recycle?
Reprocessing waste saves the use of virgin materials, and recycling – especially if it happens locally – cuts down on our carbon emissions and means that wastes don’t end up in the ground.
We’ve set ourselves some BIG targets. Starting from the simple philosophy ‘Reduce, Reuse, Recycle’ our goals are to:
- Achieve a 40% recycling rate within the first year of roll-out of internal waste and recycling facilities
- Reduce waste to landfill by 60% by 2016
- Be a Zero Waste to landfill University by 2020
- Recycle 90% of all demolition waste
