Equality Staff Fora at MMU

MMU now has four staff equality fora (click on links for more info on each forum):

The fora are a sub committee of the Diversity and Equal Opportunities Committee (DEOC) and are serviced by the Equality and Diversity (E and D) Co-ordinator. The fora are all inclusive and staff can attend if they have an interest in the area. They provide a vehicle through which staff can raise equality issues which can then be fed back to the University’s DEOC.

Each forum has two Co-Chairs, who are voted in by forum members. Elections of Co-Chairs take place every two years. The Co-Chairs work closely with the Equality and Diversity team to set termly meeting agendas and to support the equality priorities identified by the members and DEOC. The Co-chairs are responsible for promoting an inclusive culture within forum meetings, which celebrates diversity and welcomes all members and those in attendance.

The full Co-Chair terms of reference can be found here

For more information on the fora, the role of Co-Chairs, election procedures or to become a member of any of the fora please contact the Equality and Diversity Co-ordinator Lydia Lancaster lydia.lancaster@mmu.ac.uk ext. 6419.

Do you have the skills and experience to Co-Chair Manchester Metropolitan University’s Equality Staff Fora?

• Do you have a commitment to equal opportunities for all staff at the University?
• Do you have the energy and drive to represent your colleagues?
If you think you can answer ‘yes’ to these questions, then we want to hear from you.

We are looking for Co-chairs for all fora who can make a real and positive contribution to progressing the equality and diversity agenda for all staff at Manchester Met.

Co-Chairing the group will provide you with lots of experience of chairing a formal University Committee and will help to develop your leadership skills and capability. You will not be alone in this position as you will share the responsibility with your fellow Co-Chair and there will be lots of regular support and guidance from the Equality and Diversity Team.

If you think you have what it takes to become an elected Co-Chair, then please write a short paragraph (no more than 200 words) about how you would contribute or what you would bring to the role and be sure to state which of the four Fora you would like to Co-Chair. The nomination period opens on Friday 2nd June 2017 and closes on Friday 16th June 2017 at 4:30pm. You can either email your nomination to equalities@mmu.ac.uk, or send it in a sealed envelope to the Equality and Diversity Coordinator, Room 621, All Saints Building.
