Biography

Adam joined the Department of Sport and Exercise Sciences as Lecturer in Sport Science and Elite Performance in August 2022 following his time as Performance Lead at the Manchester Institute of Health and Performance working for Nuffield Health. Prior to his role with Nuffield Health, Adam completed a PhD at the university of Huddersfield on the biomechanical, physiological and recovery responses to the extra-time period of football.

Adam is an active researcher and has published in and reviewed for multiple moderate-to-high impact sports science journals. Adam’s research interests are positioned in the extra-time period of football, fixture congestion, training load, fatigue monitoring and recovery in team sport athletes. Adam also has an interest in the use of walking football as a means to improving health-related outcomes in older adults. Adam has worked in industry with elite multi-disciplinary teams to assess performance, prepare athletes for competition and enhance various aspects of athletic development. Adam’s research and expertise can benefit individual athletes and sport clubs of all levels from amateur to professional in relation to managing fatigue, optimising recovery, and performance enhancement.

Adam currently leads on the BSc (Hons) Manchester City Community Football Coaching programme. He is also currently the lead on the following units:

L7: Working in Sport and Exercise Science

Adam has previously undertaken part-time visiting lecturer work at Leeds Trinity University on the Sport and Exercise Science Programme. Adam has also taught at the University of Huddersfield, alongside his doctoral studies, within the Division of Sport, Exercise and Nutrition Sciences.
