Biography
Anne joined MMUBS with extensive experience of the sports industry, having worked in the sport industry for over 20 years which has included working for several national sport organisations (Sport England, LOCOG) as well as a number of Regional Development Agencies (RDAs) and Local Authorities. Anne has been with us over 12 years now and is a core member of staff delivering on the UG sport management and marketing degree programmes and a passionate advocate for supporting students in their future careers.
Interests and expertise
An energetic and experienced academic leader with a passion for teaching excellence, supporting and mentoring students with their career aspirations. An unprecedented knowledge of the sport industry and in particular policy and organisational change, following employment in key sporting institutions (Sport England, London 2012). Extensive industry experience of influencing and developing national, regional and local policies. Strong organisational and project management skills demonstrated through successful delivery of policy documents, large scale projects, sport events and management of complex partnerships involving multi stakeholders.
Active volunteer at sports events, managing volunteers / workforce and in delivering operational plans. Recent roles held to support the UEFA Womens’ EURO (Fan Party in Manchester City Centre) and at the RLWV Wheelchair Final, held at Manchester Central.
Teaching
For the 2022-23 academic year, I am teaching on L6 Enhancing Professional Skills, L5 Sport Events Delivery and L4 Sport Events units.
Supervision
Supervisor for students completing our UG Independent Research Project
Research outputs
Anne is undertaking a PhD at the University of Chester which is examining organisational change in National Governing Bodies of Sport (NGBs) and in particularly examine how employees from NGBs respond and manage change within their organizations.
