Do you want to improve your employability by gaining knowledge and skills other graduates don't have?

Are you worried about climate change and want to find out ways you can act on it?

Climate change is one of the greatest challenges we are currently facing and it will affect all aspects of society.

As a result, employers are increasingly realising the importance of employing graduates with an understanding of environmental and social issues in order to cope with future challenges.

By taking part in this training, you will gain an understanding of:

  • The basic science behind climate change
  • Social equity & climate change
  • What you can do to act on climate change
  • Strategies and skills for communicating action on climate change

Carbon Literacy training consists of two parts:

1. E-learning- ‘Carbon Literacy Knowledge’

An interactive e-learning course that will provide you with a good understanding of climate change and the science behind it. You need to complete the e-learning before you are eligible to attend the Carbon Literacy Workshop. The course takes approximately 3 hours to complete. You do not need to complete the course in one go, but can stop and start at points convenient to you.
You will receive your login details approximately one week before you are attending the Carbon Literacy workshop. If you require it earlier, please email environment@mmu.ac.uk

2. Carbon Literacy Workshop- “Climate Change Action and Communication"

A workshop led by MMU’s Carbon Literacy facilitators. In this fun and engaging session, you will learn about what you can do to act on climate change as well as how you can persuade others to do the same.

Qualifications and recognition

You will receive an official Carbon Literacy Certificate which looks great on your CV.

Please note: this course is only for Manchester Met students.

Places are limited, so please only register if you are sure you can attend. If you fail to turn up you may be taking the opportunity from another student.
