Cream of web world to talk at MMU

Free one-day event for Manchester's new media community

A SELECTION of the industry’s brightest web companies will be at Man Met next month in a free event for Manchester’s new media community.
The one-day employment booster event for web developers will discuss responsive, adaptive design for mobile devices and give students and professionals the chance to network and collaborate.

Working with the web browser company Opera’s Chris Mills, MMU’s Department of Information and Communications is hosting the free event on Saturday 3 March.

The seminar draws a variety of speakers including Gary Byrne from local agency, The Reading Room and Wil Linssen from Nottingham’s premier agency Erskine Design. Wil introduces GridPak, a new Responsive Grid generator, recently launched and getting attention from web developers’ worldwide.

Meet the professionals

Richard Eskins of the Department of Information and Communications said: “By running the event on a Saturday and inviting the general new media community the event will give students the chance to mix with professionals as well as their peers from various parts of the University.

“The issue of responsive, adaptive design for mobile devices is being discussed at every conference, on every forum and is keeping Twitter busy. It is going to be an essential part to many of our student’s employability in an industry that is taking on new talent at a rapid rate at present.”

The event is on Saturday, March 3, 2012, 1 – 6pm at the Assembly Hall C0.14 / John Dalton Building, Manchester Metropolitan University.
