Private Education Providers (UK)

 

Working in partnership with UK based private education providers is of increasing importance to MMU in relation to supporting third stream income, the recruitment of international students and increasing numbers of students on flexible study programmes (such as part-time, open and distance learning).

MMU works with suitably experienced private providers who adhere to nationally recognised quality standards. These may include accreditation by the British Association of Colleges (BAC), ISO9000 Investors in People, and where appropriate, the British Council's Accreditation UK.

The Collaborative Partnership Office is a central University department that supports its eight MMU faculties and partner employers in the identification, negotiation, formulation and review of contractual agreements, ensuring the upkeep of MMU quality and standards. The following areas, relative to UK based private education providers, are covered by the Collaborative Partnerships Office:

• Validated Courses - The award of MMU credit and certification for programmes, designed and taught by the private education provider

• Franchised Courses - MMU programmes, delivered by the private provider, usually at the private providers' institution.

• Articulation Agreements - Students successfully completing an agreed course run by the private provider are granted 'advanced standing' for this study and are exempt from studying agreed parts of a follow-on MMU programme.

• Progression Agreements - Students successfully completing an agreed course run by the private provider are allowed to progress onto the next level of study at MMU but without any exemptions.
