Widening Participation

 

Manchester Metropolitan University has a long tradition of widening participation to higher education through its outreach work with local schools and colleges, partnership work with other universities and providing an environment in which a diverse student body can thrive and progress.

WP activity is delivered both centrally and from within Faculties. Every Faculty has a Widening Participation Champion and a working group comprising the champions, WP Unit staff and representatives of other divisions, meeting regularly to review strategy and monitor progress.

MMU has developed a comprehensive programme of schools outreach activities to raise the aspirations and attainment of under-represented groups in HE. MMU are working collaboratively with the University of Manchester to provide a joint programme of activities for pre-16 learners from Greater Manchester. This targeted activity is in addition to the large range of schools activities organised by Recruitment and Admissions.
