MMU offers a number of opportunities to get involved in sport & physical activity at a recreational level. These activities are fun and are open to both students and staff.
This provides the opportunity for halls of residence, departments, individual courses or a group of friends to enter teams in the leagues.

Join the MMU staff fun run group: all abilities catered for – including beginner walk to run sessions.
Starts Tuesday, 31st January 2012 at Sugden Sports Centre · 12.15pm for a 12.30pm start.
To sustain the group going forward we require new Run Leaders. There is funding available for staff to gain a Leadership in Running Fitness (LiRF) qualification.

This takes place at the Turn Moss Lane sports ground in Trafford on a Wednesday afternoon. Matches kick-off at 2pm. The Manchester Amateur Football Sunday League will run the league in partnership with the University.
The league is run from October until April.

If you are a member of staff or postgraduate student at Manchester Metropolitan University or the University of Manchester then we have a netball squad for you!
StaffNet comprises of three teams; Fairies who play in the 1st division of the Campus Sport Netball League, Growlers who play in the 2nd division of the Campus Sport Netball League and Pixies who play in the Back to Netball League.
StaffNet is a friendly squad and we are open to players of all abilities, including complete beginners. We organise regular socials and training sessions as well as play competitively in leagues so it is a great way to meet new people within the University.
Training sessions take place on a Friday, 12:30 – 1:30pm at the Sugden Sports Centre and we also link in with the Back to Netball training session on Tuesdays. The league plays on a Tuesday evening, from 6:30 – 10:30pm at The Sugden Sports Centre.

The sessions will include fitness training, circuits, improving boxing technique, skipping, bag & pad work.

These coaching sessions are 8 weeks long and run during each semester. These are structured coaching sessions suitable for all abilities.
This session is open to students and staff. It takes place at the Sugden Centre on Tuesday evenings between 5pm – 6pm. Just turn up with appropriate kit and each session costs £3.50 per week.
Every third Tuesday of the month an FA Qualified Coach will be taking the session teaching new skills and helping to improve the players game.

BaseballSoftball UK is inviting all University students and staff in Manchester to take part in 8 weeks of slow pitch softball. Softball is a sport for men and women of any age to enjoy together. It’s fun and exciting and a great way to keep fit no matter what your previous experience is with a bat and ball.
Sessions begin Saturday, 16th February 2012 between 5.30 – 6.30pm and run until 22nd March at the Armitage Centre, University of Manchester. Cost for the 6 sessions is £25.
