Sports Scholarships

Manchester Metropolitan University is in the process of exploring the introduction of a sports scholarship scheme.

In the meantime, and until the scheme has been finalised and is in operation, we would like to signpost you to potential sources of funding for the interim period.

Manchester

Champions Charter

The Champions Charter funds talented athletes living in the city of Manchester. The fund is open age and has three levels based on ability:

  • Bronze (County Standard) · £250
  • Silver (Regional Level) · £500
  • Gold (National/International level) · £1,000

Greater Sport

There are three sources of funding for talented athletes:

  • National – includes Talented Athlete Sports Scholarship (TASS) scheme and the World Class Pathway Programme (WCPP) for international athletes who have the potential to win medals at Olympic & Paralympic Games
  • Greater Manchester Police Authority Coaching Legacy Fund
  • Greater Manchester Sports Fund

Cheshire

Athlete Performance Academy

Cheshire East Council, in partnership with MMU\'s Exercise & Sport Science Department run the Athlete Performance Academy, which is designed to support talented individuals who are training and competing in sport at regional, national and international level.
