Questions for Cleaning:

  • Do Facilities clean my computer?

    Our cleaners are instructed not to touch your computer as we do not wish to disturb what could be a vital word document or spreadsheet, for example.

    Cleaning computer equipment is considered to be a personal responsibility of staff across the University.

    All offices are cleaned once a week.

    Please clear your desk, window ledges and shelves to allow these areas to be wiped and polished.

    Please remove items such as files/boxes from the floor.

    Domestic staff are instructed not to touch areas which have papers/files/boxes on them as we do not wish to disturb what could be a vital note or piece of research

    If at anytime you feel that our cleaning service has not met your expectations please contact the Facilities Manager for your building or use our Rate Your Facilities Service option to provide feedback.

  • How do I make arrangements for a special clean of my office/building?

    Please contact the Facilities Team Leader for your building to arrange for a special clean to be undertaken. Please note that 24 hours notice is required for this service.

    Please contact reception for the building you are in. Contact details can be found by selecting your building on the staff or student area pages.

  • How can I arrange for large items of cardboard to be disposed of?

    Please don't place the items in the corridor as sometimes happens. Please contact the Facilities Team Leader for the building you are in and they will arrange for the cardboard to be collected.

    Please contact the Facilities Team Leader for the building you are in and they will arrange for your confidential waste to be collected, shredded and disposed of.

  • What should I do if I wish to dispose of some electrical equipment?

    It is important that electrical equipment items are carefully disposed of in accordance with the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations (WEEE Regulations).

    Please contact the Facilities Team Leader for the building you are in and they will arrange for the items to be safely disposed of.

  • Is there a charge for booking a visit from pest control?
    No, there is no charge for arranging a visit from our pest control specialists

  • How long does it take for pest control to complete a job and will I have to stay out of my office during that time?

    We are normally able to deal with any issues within 24 hours, unless the problem is reported over a weekend when buildings are closed.

    In exceptional circumstances, and depending on the pest activity and the treatment required, you may need to vacate the area. You would be notified in advance if this is necessary
