What is the Higher Education Grant?
The Higher Education Grant is a means-tested grant which aims to help with accommodation and other living costs for full-time higher education students who enrolled before September 2006. As it is a grant you do not have to pay this back.
Am I eligible?
If you enrolled on your course between September 2004 and September 2006, you may be eligible. Your Local Authority (LA) will deteemine your eligiblity.
How much is the Higher Education Grant?
The maximum amount is £1000, but how much you get depends on your household income. The table below gives further details:

Your Local Authority will confirm if you are eligible for this grant as it will be detailed on your Financial Notification form.
How is it paid?
It is paid by the SLC directly into your bank account at the start of each term with your maintenance loan.
