If you enrolled on your course after September 2006 these pages will outline the support available to you.
What help can I get?
You will be able to apply for: a maintenance grant and a student loan for living costs; a tuition fee loan for your tuition fees of up to £3,325 for 2011/12. Depending on your household income you may be eligible for an MMU Bursary.
How am I paid?
The SLC will usually pay your loan and grant if applicable in three instalments – one at the start of each term. They will make payments for most students straight into your bank or building society account. You will receive a Student Finance Breakdown detailing the amount of loans and grant you will receive and a Payment Timetable from the SLC which tells you when you will get your money. Please ensure you check your account details and notify the SLC immediately if your account details are incorrect.
How do I repay my loans?
You do not need to repay these loans until you have left University and are earning more than £15,000 per year. You repay at 9% of your earnings above £15,000, e.g. if you are earning £18,000 which is an average starting salary for a graduate you would be repaying £5.19 per week. Further information regarding the terms and conditions can be found at Directgov (PDF).
