Support for Full Time Undergraduate Students

What support you get depends on your household income. These pages will summarise what is available to you, further information can also be found on the Gov.uk website

What help can I get?

New students in 2016/17 can apply for a maintenance loan for living costs and a tuition fee loan for your tuition fees of up to £9,000 for 2016/17.

Continuing students in 2016/17 can apply for a maintenance grant and a maintenance loan for living costs; a tuition fee loan for your tuition fees of up to £9000.

Depending on your household income you may be eligible for the Student Support Package.

How am I paid?

The SLC will usually pay your loan and grant (if applicable) in three instalments – one at the start of each term. They will make payments for most students straight into your bank or building society account. You can log on to your online Student Finance account to access your Student Finance Breakdown detailing the amount of loans and grant (if applicable) you will receive and your Payment Schedule from the SLC which tells you when you will get your money.

How do I repay my loans?

How you repay your loans depends on when you took your loan out. If you started your course after September 2012 you repay at 9% of your earnings above £21,000. You can check you repayments on the student loan repayment calculator.

Please note the terms and conditions relating to your loans are set by the SLC and you should refer to the SLC Repayment web pages for full terms and conditions of all loans and for any repayment queries you may have
