Students’ Union

Did you know that you automatically become a member of the Students’ Union when you start university? The Union exists to represent your needs and views and to help you get the most out of your time at Manchester Metropolitan University.

Whatever your interests, there is a whole range of exciting opportunities on offer for you to get involved with. This includes sports clubs, societies and volunteering roles, expert advice when you need it and campaigns on the issues that matter. The Union has a base on both the Manchester and Cheshire campuses.

Futures Skills Award

Discover new opportunities. Sell your skills. Stand out from the crowd.

Open to all students, the Futures Skills Award allows you to:

  • Get recognition for the additional things you do such as part-time jobs, volunteering, Student Union roles, studying abroad and placements!
  • Discover a wide range of fun and interesting extra-curricular opportunities, allowing you to personalise the award to suit your own interests.
  • Learn to sell your skills to employers to help you stand out from the crowd.

Playing sport and keeping active plays an important part of University life at Manchester Metropolitan University. You can find a programme of activities that provides something for everyone, from those who want to try an activity for the first time, to supporting elite athletes that compete on an international stage.

MMU Sport prides itself on providing the highest quality facilities for their students and offers a range of activities students can get involved with. Everything from free, casual sports sessions, health and fitness classes and inter-departmental leagues to competitive sports clubs, as well as opportunities to volunteer in sport and gain professional qualifications.

Careers and Employability

Our Careers and Employability team help you to get the skills and experience that employers look for. We provide a range of support including careers workshops, online resources, employer events and one-to-one advice appointments to help you prepare for life after graduation.

As a Manchester Met student, you can search and apply for 100s of part-time jobs, internships and work experience opportunities through My Career Hub. You can also get paid work experience on campus in a wide range of roles through Jobs4Students.

Attend our daily drop-in to get ready for your job search, 1pm – 4pm in the Employability Hub, Business School Building where you can receive expert feedback on your CV, LinkedIn profile and applications.
