If your visa is incorrect
When you get your biometric residence permit (BRP), you will need to check it has the correct information.
This includes:
- Your personal details - such as name, gender, and date of birth.
You should also check it has the correct information for your conditions of stay in the UK:
- You should be eligible to work 20 hours a week for degree-level study and above.
- You should be able to work 10 hours a week for a foundation course or English language programme.
- If you are studying on a visit or short-term study visa, you cannot work part-time.
- For courses longer than 12 months, the end date on your visa should be four months after the course end date shown on your CAS.
If you think that there may be an error on your BRP, please contact our Student Visa team so that we can check it for you. Please do this straight away as there may be a deadline for you to report the error by and receive a free replacement.
- If there is an error on your BRP and you applied outside the UK, you can report a problem online. Any corrections made are free if you report them on time.
- If you applied for a visa extension inside the UK and you need to report an error, you should ask for a visa administrative review. UKVI will refund the review charge if they agree that there is an error.
When your BRP is re-issued, we will need to update your student record with your new BRP details. You can help us do this by contacting the Student Visa team with a copy of the front and back of your new BRP.
