Manchester Metropolitan University is committed to providing equal opportunities in education for all students. We are concerned about our students’ well-being and provide a range of services you can use while you’re studying.
Our Learner Development Service exists to help students with disabilities. The Learning Development Advisers will work with students to help steer them through any necessary screenings or assessments.
Advisers also have links with academic colleagues and other central services to raise awareness of disability issues and to ensure that appropriate support is available.
If you would like to check the physical and sensory access to any of our campus buildings before you visit or decide to study here you'll find independently assessed information on the DisabledGo Education website (just select Manchester Metopolitan University from the drop-down list of Universities and Colleges).
Our Chaplains are here for everyone, irrespective of belief. They provide spiritual help, confidential advice, friendship and support, prayer, and worship. The Chaplains can also assist you in finding information about places of worship, whatever your faith community.
The Counselling Service offers you the chance to talk to a professionally trained counsellor, in confidence, about any personal problems you may have. Both individual and group counselling is free to all students registered with the University.
All the Counsellors work to the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy.
Student Support Officers, available on every campus, run study skills workshops for both groups and individuals and help you with any other problems you might have.
To ensure you get the most from your studies, Blockbuster workshops are held throughout the year on different topics, including revision technique, managing your time, and stress management.
There are also great value cafés and refectories on each University site offer a range of good quality snacks and meals, and students don’t pay VAT on any food.
