Degree apprenticeship partnership with Pizza Hut
Launch of management and leadership programme
MANCHESTER Met has further cemented its reputation as a leading University for employee-focused training through a new apprenticeship partnership with Pizza Hut.
The trailblazer degree-level apprenticeship will see managers hone their leadership and management skills on the University's well-established business training programmes.
Degree-level apprentices at the global food outlet will focus on a mix of academic and practical skills, including financial analysis, food production and hospitality leadership.
Professor Julia Clarke, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Law, said: “The University is leading the way in working with companies to develop programmes that work for them, supporting their commitment to develop their employees as future business leaders.

“Working with Pizza Hut, we’ll be training managers of their food outlets and those in charge of the teams, who work in fast-paced environments, to enhance and complement their leadership and management skills.”
Initially there will be 10 trainees from Pizza Hut who will form part of a cohort of 100 students and will benefit from the bespoke programmes currently operating at Manchester Met. The University already provides similar programmes for employers such as HMRC and Tesco.
The degree-level apprenticeship was launched yesterday with Skills Minister Nick Boles MP when Pizza Hut announced a range of apprenticeships in addition to the Manchester Met programme, from Level 1 to degree standard. Pizza Hut committed to train 1,500 of its staff over the next five years on one of these apprenticeship programmes.

Skills Minister Nick Boles MP added: “Apprenticeships add value to our businesses and workforce right across the economy. These apprenticeships at Pizza Hut Restaurants will offer even more people the opportunity to gain skills and knowledge while working.”
