Jordan is an analyst and applied mixed methods policy researcher who specialises in projects with a quantitative focus. During his time at PERU, Jordan has delivered on projects funded by The European Commission, local and national government, charities, research institutes and think tanks. His work aims to achieve socially desirable outcomes as well as inform decision-making and commissioning practice on local and national level.
His main responsibilities include the use of micro-economic modelling techniques to evaluate changes to the tax and benefit system on an individual and household level. This includes the use of econometrics to analyse and understand the effect of policy changes on the income distribution, labour market, poverty and inequality. Jordan’s work has increasingly involved the generation of evidence that underpins the 'What Works Agenda', an essential decision making tool for policy and practice. This involves the synthesis of complex quantitative data in the form of systematic reviews and evidence assessments in social policy domains such as homelessness, social care and criminal justice as well as the application of impact methodologies to evaluate interventions in secondary school education.
In addition, Jordan is leading on the design, planning, implementation and evaluation of Horizon 2020 research programme the Co-creation of Service Innovation in Europe (CoSIE), the aim of which is to inspire the beginning of a new era in the co-creation of public services by achieving sustainable and strategic change.
Working with the Institute of Public Policy Research, Resolution Foundation, Joseph Rowntree Foundation, New Economics Foundation and Legatum Institute, on modelling the effects of the tax and benefit system on incomes, poverty and government spending
