Carbon literacy involves understanding of the causes and impacts of our everyday carbon emissions — a starting point for making real advances in how we tackle climate change.
Working with the Carbon Literacy Project, we’ve delivered carbon literacy training to our staff and students since 2012. We are proud to be a bronze-accredited Carbon Literate Organisation (CLO).
As the world’s first university to help students become carbon literate, we are pioneers in further and higher education.
We’ve rolled out an ambitious, university-wide programme of training that has helped more than 2,200 of our staff and students achieve certification, using our award-winning peer-to-peer Carbon Literacy for Students (CL4S) training model.
And we’ve developed Carbon Literacy Training Toolkits for further and higher education, available at no cost to the user. More than 160 institutions in the UK and overseas have access to the toolkits.
We’re also committed to promoting climate awareness across our wider community. Our specialist team of consultants and trainers work with public and private sector partners to help their leaders and workforce become carbon literate. Organisations we have worked with include Arup, Climate Ready Gwent, Natural Resources Wales, Keep Scotland Beautiful and Cynnal Cymru. For more information, see our external partners.
