Graduates from across Manchester Met attended the alumni reception from several subjects including business, law, architecture, School of Art and School of Engineering, ranging from graduation class of 1977 to our most recent graduates - class of 2023. We were also joined by some of our exchange students from Taylor’s University.

During the event, guests celebrated Manchester Met’s 200-year anniversary, heard about our fantastic achievements in education and research, how philanthropy is transforming lives, and about our exciting upcoming projects. Alumni were also able to re-connect with former classmates, fellow alumni in Malaysia and Manchester Met staff who were in attendance.

Hosting the event alongside the Development and Alumni Relations team was Professor Liz Warren, Head of International for the Faculty of Business and Law, and Dr Rachelle Viader Knowles, Head of International for the Faculty of Arts and Humanities.

Dr Rachelle Viader Knowles, Faculty Head of International for the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, said: “It was a pleasure to co-host the alumni reception, and to meet with old friends and new, as well as see some familiar faces. It was fantastic to hear the conversations in the room of the fond memories of studying at Manchester Met, and it is great so many still feel very connected to the University. We were even joined by some students from Taylor’s University who came to Manchester on exchange.”

Professor Liz Warren, Faculty Head of International for the Faculty of Business and Law, said: “It was fantastic to welcome and reconnect with alumni at the reception on 9 March, where we celebrated our 200-year anniversary and shared our successes and ambitions for the future.

“Alumni play an important role in shaping our global alumni network and supporting the employability and success of our current students, directly supporting our internationalisation and education strategies.”

Graduates were invited to stay connected to the University by sharing their stories of life after graduation and to volunteer to support future Manchester Met students, through online webinars for prospective students and helping current students settle in when visiting Malaysia on exchange. Alumni volunteer, Penny also shared her experiences of supporting current and prospective students with guests.
