Public engagement with research
Working with the public and local communities to make our research accessible.
Our approach to public engagement
At Manchester Met, our approach to public engagement is rooted in a commitment to make higher education accessible and beneficial to all, and to learn from those who can shape our research for the better.
Our diverse research strengths across subject disciplines emphasise engaged methods, ensuring that we listen to and collaborate with people and communities beyond higher education. This inclusive approach enables us to address real-world challenges and enrich the lives of people in Manchester and beyond.
As part of our ongoing commitment, we:
- Signed the National Co-ordinating Centre for Public Engagement Manifesto for Public Engagement.
- Committed to the Concordat for Engaging the Public with Research and UK Research and Innovation’s Vision for Public Engagement.
- Are a member of the United Nation’s Academic Impact Network, ensuring our engagement aligns with the UN sustainable development goals.
- Received the Queen’s Anniversary Prize for the impact of our public engagement with poetry and community languages.
