The application process

We’ll guide you through the next steps of the application process.

This includes understanding your offer, the opportunities to visit us on campus, and what happens in the run up to enrolment.

  • Attend an applicant visit day

Applicant visit days are exclusively for students who have been made an offer to study at Manchester Met. The vast majority of our courses host visit days and each one has its own unique date and time between February and April. If you are eligible to attend, you will receive an email to invite you to book your place and you’ll be able to see the full programme of what your course has planned for you.

In most cases, we hold separate parent/carer/guardian sessions held by our senior staff, whilst you’re in your subject session or workshop with your future course mates.

Visit days are different to open days so if you’ve visited campus before, we still highly recommend you attend a visit day as it offers you the opportunity to spend the day as though you’re a student on the course.

  • Understand and accept your offer

    Understanding your offer

At Manchester Met we make conditional and unconditional offers.

Before you accept your offer, there is some important information that we’d like you to read carefully about your course, contract, our admissions policies, and terms and conditions.

    Read more about your offer

    Conditional offers

This usually means that your offer is conditional on you achieving certain exam results. You can find the specific details of your individual offer when you log in to the UCAS Hub.

Once you have met the conditions of your offer, our admissions team will confirm that it is unconditional via the UCAS Hub and send you further information about how to enrol as a student at Manchester Met. This usually happens in August.

What does my conditional offer look like?

Your offer from Manchester Met might be:

    • A ‘grade’ offer, for example A-level grades ABB, or BTEC Extended Diploma grades DDM (distinction/distinction/merit).
    • A ‘tariff’ offer, for example 128 tariff points from GCE A-levels. Please note that Manchester Met does not count tariff points from AS-level.
    • It might also ask for a minimum grade in a specific level three subject, to ensure that you have the necessary knowledge and skills for your chosen course. For example 128 tariff points from GCE A-levels, to include a grade C in GCE A-level maths.

    Unconditional offer

This means you have already met the entry requirements, though you might still need to provide proof of your qualifications or have a DBS (criminal records) check.

Our admissions team will write to you with further information on how to enrol as a student at Manchester Met in August.

    Accepting your offer

When you’ve decided which courses you’d like to select for your firm and insurance choices, log in to the UCAS Hub to accept your offer.

Make sure you check your personal UCAS deadlines on the UCAS Hub.

  • Start making friends

Through our online Unibuddy Community, you can chat with other students who are starting at Manchester Met at the same time as you.

The community is only open to those who have an offer to study at Manchester Metropolitan in September and you’ll be invited to join around April.

Once you have joined, you can find students from your course, or the accommodation you’ve registered for, and start to make friends which will make everything a lot easier and exciting for you before the start of term.

    What is Unibuddy Community?

Unibuddy Community provides an official space for you to get to know other new students before you start at Manchester Metropolitan. Through our Unibuddy community, you can:

    • Meet students studying the same course or living in your accommodation.
    • Discuss hobbies and interests.
    • Learn about the university and Manchester as a city.

We have a range of public group chats that you can join to meet people by subject area, interests, and hobbies. Can’t find what you’re looking for? You can set up your own public groups for others to join.

How to join our Unibuddy Community

Look out for an email from Unibuddy ([email protected]) which contains your joining link. If you cannot see the Unibuddy email, check your spam folder. If there is no email, please contact us.

Once you have your joining link, you will need to create your password and log in, and then you can start chatting with other students.

    Our top tips

You can create a new group or join existing groups within our Unibuddy Community.

    • We encourage you to join and see what other students are asking about, as there might be topics or information you find useful.
    • Introduce yourself and ask questions to make friends before you get here - this will make settling in a new place easier.
    • If there isn’t already a group for something you want to talk about, you can create one.

    Is Unibuddy Community monitored?

This Unibuddy Community has been created to provide a safe space for you to chat with other offer holders planning to join Manchester Metropolitan at the same time as you.

Chats are monitored for safeguarding and data security only. To ensure everyone can enjoy the community, when you log in, you are asked to agree to these rules:

    • Be kind and courteous: We aim to create a welcoming environment. Please treat everyone with respect — healthy debates are natural, but kindness is required.
    • No hate or bullying: Make sure that everyone feels safe. Bullying of any kind will not be tolerated.
    • No promotions or spam: Self-promotion, spam and irrelevant links are not allowed.
    • Respect everyone’s privacy: Being part of these groups requires mutual trust. Discussions make group conversations great, but may also be sensitive and private. So please think twice before you post personal information.

By logging onto the community and joining the chat, you agree with these rules.

If you break one of the rules, you may be removed from the Unibuddy community platform.

    Not received your joining link?

If you have not received your joining link, please email us with your UCAS PID number: [email protected]
