Ethan Romer

At an Undergraduate level, Ethan studied Zoology, which was influenced by his interests in Animal Conservation and Ecology, and his volunteer work in South Africa, working at the world-famous Care for Wild Rhino Sanctuary. Alongside his degree, Ethan completed a placement year in the COVID-19 Diagnostic laboratory network, Lighthouse Labs, leading the national effort against the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Outside of his degree, Ethan has a key interest in developing Esports at a University level. He chaired the Esports society, leading them to compete at a high level across both national and international tournaments against other universities in the UK and Europe, also winning them Society of the Year in the process. As well as this, Ethan also played American football for the University’s team, MMU Eagles, in a season that saw them avoid relegation to a lower division.

As President, Ethan wants to explore and bring about means to ease the cost-of-living crisis on students, as well as lead a campaign based on the education about the risks of drug and alcohol use, focusing on harm reduction and assistance with addiction.

Ethan became a member of the Board of Governors on 1 July 2023.
