Biography

I studied BSc in Electrical and Electronic engineering at North London Polytechnic (University of North London). Computers and computing were at its infancy back then but I had a special interest in this field. I joined Manchester Metropolitan University as an IT technician and over the years progressed in number of areas, from repairing and installations of computers, desktop publishing, training, part-time evening teaching as an associate lecturer to my current role as a Digital Education Specialist. In 2007 I completed my MSc in Business Information Technology Management at Manchester Metropolitan University.

Interests and expertise

I work in the Digital Education Team, which is part of the larger Centre for Learning Enhancement and Educational Development (LEED), My main focus is on the Lecture Capture System and our Cloud-Based Video Repository.

  • Collaborating with academic staff, senior learning & teaching leads and other staff with a remit for e-learning to identify opportunities and proactively devise and deliver staff development and training on learning technologies.   
  • I’m here to liaise with colleagues across the university to support the effective adoption and implementation of Lecture Capture and use of video resources as learning technologies and e-resources.
  • I’m here to  support, advice, guidance, staff development and training to programme to unit teams and support the design, production and adoption of technology enhanced learning
  • Collaborate with colleagues within Faculties to provide advice and guidance to programme and unit teams in the design and production of e-learning and video content resources
  • Undertake training needs analyses to identify training and support requirements within specific unit/programme teams and across Faculties, collaborating with colleagues within their designated Faculty
  • Design and deliver appropriate local training
