Your next steps in the journey to Manchester Met

1. Accept your offer

The process of accepting your offer will depend on how you applied - if you applied through UCAS, directly through our application portal or through an education agent. An accepted offer is also known as a firm offer. Whether you received a conditional or an unconditional offer, we’re here to help you find out how to accept it so that you can begin your journey with us.

2. Meet your offer conditions

If you have received a conditional offer, it is important you provide all outstanding documents and information to the relevant admissions team as soon as possible.

The details of the conditions will be outlined in your offer letter. You should upload the required documents and information to the online application service account or provide a copy of the documents by email to the relevant admissions team. You can contact the admission team here.

You will then be notified once the Admissions team updates the status of your offer to unconditional. For UCAS applicants, this will be visible in your UCAS Hub and for direct applications – in your online application service account.

3. Pay your deposit

To secure your unconditional study place, you will need to accept your unconditional offer of study and pay your tuition fee deposit.

The deposit will secure your place and will be deducted from your total tuition fees.

Your offer letter will explain:

  • How much you need to pay
  • When to pay it
  • Where to send your proof of payment

If you are coming to the UK on a Student visa, you must pay your deposit before we can give you your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS). You cannot apply for a student visa until you have the CAS.

You can choose to pay the remaining amount in sterling or your local currency either as:

  • Full upfront
  • 3 instalments (Oct/Jan/Mar)
  • 6 monthly instalments (Oct-Mar)
4. Apply for your CAS

A Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) is a unique identifier issued by Manchester Metropolitan University required to make a student visa application.

Once you have firmly accepted your unconditional offer, you will receive a unique CAS Shield link to the personal email account (that you provided on your application) from [email protected]

Please note, we will not begin to process your CAS until you have paid your tuition fee deposit or provided a proof of exemption.

5. Apply for your visa

Once you have secured a place to study at Manchester Metropolitan University, it is time to start preparing your visa application. In most cases, you will need to apply for a Student visa. The guide below provides essential information about the UK Student visa requirements.

What not to bring

  • Valuable items such as jewellery
  • Large amounts of cash

For information on items that are not allowed to be brought into the UK, or when import tax must be paid please visit the HM Revenue & Customs website.

3. Arrive in the UK

Flying into Manchester Airport

The airport is close to the city centre and University (10 miles or 16km) and has well connected transport links.

By train

There are regular trains to Manchester Oxford Road and Manchester Piccadilly stations from the Airport which take on average 20 minutes. Both stations are located centrally and conveniently to your accommodation if you are living in the city centre.

By tram

The Metrolink connects Manchester Airport to over 90 locations across Greater Manchester. If there is a tram stop near your accommodation, this is a very cost- effective way to travel.

By bus

Manchester Airport is linked to the city centre by the 24-hour Bee Network bus service. This is the cheapest way to travel across Manchester.

By taxi

Black Cab Taxis and StreetCars, a Manchester private fleet of cabs operate from each terminal of Manchester Airport. You can check the tariffs and cost of travel in advance on the Manchester Airport website

For more information please visit  the airport website

4. Arriving in Manchester from other destinations

Manchester has well-connected transport links to other areas of the UK. To find out how to get to us, see the  Visit Manchester website.

If you need advice on how to get to your destination, please contact [email protected].

8. Complete your right to study check

Before you can enrol online for your course, the University must check that you have arrived and have the correct immigration permission to study in the UK. UK Visas and Immigration call this a right to study check. We might also ask you to complete a right to study check if you are a returning student and we need to ask you for updated documentation.

If we have issued you with a CAS number, you will have received a link to complete a right to study check by email. Do not use a link forwarded to you by anyone other than the Student visa team or an educational agent, as the link will be specific to you.

If you do not need a CAS number, because you do not need a Student visa, please contact [email protected]  with your MMU ID number.

You can complete a right to study check up to and including the latest date you can arrive for your course. However, you cannot enrol fully for your course until you have arrived in the UK and provided a copy of your immigration permission. Physical documents such as BRPs, are being replaced by a digital immigration permission known as an eVisa
