CISG Launch: Current Issues in Intimate and Sexual Citizenship

International online launch event of CISG (Contemporary Intimacies, Sexualities and Genders Research Group) with Prof Diane Richardson and Dr Ana Cristina Santos.

CISG is part of RCASS, the Research Centre for Applied Social Sciences at Manchester Metropolitan University.

This online event launches CISG with a debate on current issues in intimate and sexual citizenship studies.

The intensity of social struggles around difference and diversity regarding intimate and family practices, sexual and gender identification, expression and presentation points to significance of personal life to democracy and politics, locally and transnationally.

Sexual and Intimate citizenship matter.

CISG has formed to address these issues through topical cutting-edge research and critical debate.

We are proud to host the internationally renowned scholars Prof Diane Richardson (University of Newcastle, UK) and Dr Ana Cristina Santos (University of Coimbra, Portugal) to speak on current perspectives within intimate and sexual citizenship studies.

Prof Diane Richardson (Sociology, University of Newcastle) is a world-renowned scholar of feminism, gender and sexuality, and author of the influential book Sexuality and Citizenship (2018, Polity).
