What should you include in your portfolio?
The portfolio should reflect your subject choice, for example, we would expect a Fashion portfolio to contain work that represents you and your creative practice. Include photographs and scans of finished pieces, sketchbook pages and garments/final outcomes. You can also include a web link to video footage to support your application.
The portfolio can include:
- Visual research
- Creative ideas development
- Photographs of three-dimensional work, for example, pattern cutting, modelling on the stand, garments, or sculptures
- Textile and/or technical sampling
- Final outcomes of project work
- Drawing and use of media
Include any additional creative work that represents you and showcases your skills.
For each image or photograph provide a written summary of no more than 100 words that tells us about your work, include a description of the media you have used. For advice on what a portfolio watch the video below.
OPTIONAL VIDEO
You may wish to consider creating a short video which includes the following:
- A brief introduction to yourself and your practice
- Pick one of your favourite pieces of work and briefly explain how you created it, your process, techniques, and use of materials
This video can be produced on a phone or webcam and should be no longer than 3 minutes. You can film yourself talking/presenting work or provide visuals with a voice over.
