Why did you choose to study your masters at Manchester Met?

I previously studied Psychology at undergraduate and did really enjoy my time at Uni and my course. However, during the year following my graduation, I re-evaluated what I wanted to do and found that a career in Marketing was something I wanted to pursue and learn more about. Knowing that Manchester is a big city and a digital hub for a career in marketing, I knew there would be great job prospects by studying at Manchester Met’s triple-accredited Business School.

How were you supported throughout the course?

My tutor and lectures are so helpful; they want to get to know you and ensure you feel well-supported. I felt very welcomed when I first started at Manchester Met, and everything relating to my course was listed on Moodle; from internships to information about Rise and Career events.

What parts of the course did you enjoy the most?

I really enjoy learning the theory behind marketing and being able to apply the theory I’ve learnt practically, such as creating a digital strategy for a well-known brand. I also have enjoyed and appreciated learning face-to-face and being able to attend guest lectures from people in the industry.

How has the course impacted your career and ambitions for the future?

Through the RISE 100 Hours Internship at Manchester Met, and the help of their Careers and Employability services, I secured an internship in Affiliate Marketing at The Social Chain AG (Former CEO, Steven Bartlett who is on Dragon’s Den!). I definitely wouldn’t have received this huge opportunity without the RISE programme, and it has helped me in deciding what area of Marketing I want to go into. It’s enabled me to get more experience at a well-established company, yet is still very flexible around my studies.

Additionally, through my course, I’ve been able to participate in the Alumni Professional Mentoring Scheme where you are matched with previous Manchester Met Alumni who are already in the field or industry you want to work in. This has been hugely beneficial in networking, learning more about the marketing industry, and because they have studied at Manchester Met, I have been able to ask general advice about my modules. I definitely feel that my course has made me more certain of my ambitions for the future and through the opportunities it offers, has helped me in upskilling and making myself more employable.

My top tip for future students is…

Make the most out of your time at university by taking part in different opportunities, immersing yourself in the environment and enjoying it!
