As plans for the controversial European Super League were announced by a group of football clubs across the contintent, Manchester Law School's Reader in Sports Law Dr Katarina Pijetlovic provided expert commentary and insight in the media.

English football's 'big six' football clubs were part of the group that announced plans to form the breakaway league, which they hoped to establish as a new midweek competition.

It was condemned by fans, football authorities and government ministers in the UK and across Europe by Uefa and league associations.
