National Apprenticeship Week (NAW) 2024 will bring together businesses and apprentices from across the country to shine a light on the positive impact that apprenticeships make to individuals, businesses and the wider economy.

The seventeenth annual National Apprenticeship Week will take place between Monday 5 February and Sunday 11 February 2024.  The theme for this year is "Skills for Life", reflecting on how apprenticeships can help both individuals to develop the skills and knowledge required for a rewarding career, and for employers to innovate and future-proof their workforce.

During National Apprenticeship week, the University will be sharing the success stories of some of its apprentices and employer partners as well as hosting and attending a number of events.

The Festival of Apprenticeships Online Fair will be taking place on 5 February and Manchester Met will be hosting a session with two of our digital apprentices who will share the successes and challenges of their apprenticeship journeys, along with advice for aspiring apprentices.

On 6 February, Liz Gorb MBE, Director of Apprenticeships, and Peter Wasson, Public Affairs Manager, along with an SME employer partner, Red Eye and Manchester Met apprentices, will be attending the Parliamentary Apprenticeship Fair at the House of Commons to demonstrate how degree apprenticeships are transforming and enriching lives.

The Degree Apprenticeship Unit will also be attending the Manchester Digital Skills Festival on 6 and 7 February - a great opportunity for future apprentices and employers to find out more about our digital degree apprenticeship offering and how to partner with us.

On 7 February, Manchester Met will be hosting an SME event focused on supporting sustainable business growth, in partnership with Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce and Greater Manchester Learning Provider Network. This event is suitable for all small business owners. Book your attendance here.

Manchester City Council are also hosting an online event on 7 February, dedicated to exploring the world of apprenticeships for people from ethnic minority backgrounds. Find out more.

Throughout National Apprenticeship Week 2024 there will also be several free information webinars that will provide an oversight of our apprenticeship programmes, as well as outreach events at local schools and colleges across the region.

National Apprenticeship Week is also an ideal opportunity to highlight the initial findings from Manchester Met’s ‘Force for Impact’ survey where further insights into how our degree apprenticeships are transforming lives have started to emerge.

As a top-rated university provider of degree apprenticeships for five years (2019-2023), Manchester Metropolitan University is not only transforming the lives of our students by accelerating their careers and earnings, but also working with employers to champion diversity in the workplace and develop our future work force. These are some of the core practices that contribute to Manchester Met being an Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ university provider for degree apprenticeships.

Liz Gorb MBE, Director of Apprenticeships at Manchester Metropolitan University, said: “We are proud to be a pioneering sector leader of degree apprenticeships. Over the last nine years, we have seen almost 5,000 apprentices graduate and start their degree apprenticeship at Manchester Met, as well as witnessing our apprentices succeed well above the national average* with 83% achievement rates.

Our 18 high quality degree apprenticeship programmes continue to transform and enrich people’s lives, whilst our unrivalled employer partnerships with over 600 employers support these organisations to fill critical skills gaps and diversify their workforce.”

As a leading university provider of degree apprenticeships, we’ll also be celebrating our success stories through the lens of Manchester Met’s 200 Year Economic Growth campaign. Join us across social media as we share these stories and participate in various events, both hosting and attending.
