In this Meet our Scholars news piece our talented Max Mara Opportunity Scholarship in Fashion recipient Armani shares how much her dream of studying Fashion means to her and how the recognition of a scholarship has given her the community and confidence to thrive.

“Growing up, going to university was once a far-fetched fantasy for me. I knew no one who continued into higher education and certainly not for a creative subject like fashion. Getting into university was a dream come true, only made better by receiving the Max Mara Scholarship.

Being chosen out of all the applicants has validated the diligence and sacrifice I put into my work to get me here. Being a part of the scholar community at MMU will open so many doors for my future and I am excited to see where these opportunities take me. This award will change the trajectory of my life and allow me to start my education and career, surrounded by people who want to see me succeed.

I come from a working-class single-parent home and opportunities like this are so rare. This prize has not only given me financial comfort, but it has given me confidence in my craft and reassurance that I belong here.”
