Biography

I am a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in the Department of Computing & Mathematics at Manchester Metropolitan University, Manchester, UK. I earned my B.S degree in Electronics & Communication (majors in Embedded System & Wireless Communication) from the University of Lahore, Lahore, Pakistan in 2013, an M.S degree in Computer Science (Major in Wireless Communication) from COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, Islamabad, Pakistan in 2016, and a PhD degree in Electronics and Computer Engineering from Hongik University, South Korea in 2022. My research interests are in the broader areas of Distributed Networking and Computing, Edge/Fog/Cloud Computing, Network Protocol Design, Wireless/Mobile Communication, Networking & Computing for Metaverse, Future Vertical Communication Networks, Information-Centric Networking, Microservices Distribution and Networking, Internet of Things (IoT), Wireless Sensor Networks and beyond 5th generation communication. In my research, I consider the network as giant computing machinery and develop efficient protocols and frameworks to support in-network computations aiming to reduce backhaul traffic and congestion control. While utilizing the network to compute the requests, I primarily focus on the stringent latency requirements of end-user/devices and reduce the latency to meet the deadline time.

Prior to starting my PhD, I worked as Software Architect in leading IT companies. I have 6+ years of software & application development experience in modern application development technologies such as C/C++, C#, AngularJS, TypeScript, JavaScript, Swift, Java, ASP.NET, Entity Framework, Dapper, SQL, MongoDB.

Apart from my research and development activities, I am a history buff and love to read history books and watch historical documentaries and seasons. My favourite historical personality is “Leonardo da Vinci”, an Italian polymath and widely considered one of the most diversely talented individuals ever to have lived. The following is his quote that is my favourite: “Learning never exhausts the mind”.

Teaching

Why study an Advanced Computer Networks course?

The advanced computer networks course focuses on technical aspects of networking, covering recent developments in the field such as 5G/6G, artificial intelligence for smart networks, unmanned aerial and autonomous vehicle networks, and softwarized and information-centric networking. The course emphasizes network topologies, routing algorithms, security protocols, mobility management, and network maintenance areas. The students will acquire crucial skills for careers in various domains, including the telecommunication industry, cybersecurity, cloud computing, network engineering, and system administration while studying these core areas.
