Biography
I am a registered Social Worker with Social Work England. I have worked within social work local authorities (North West) over the past 20 years. My area of specialism is working with young people in transition and adults, all of whom have a learning disability, often underpinned by comorbidities such as Autism Spectrum Disorder and/or mental health issues.
I have undertaken and completed a number of commissioned research projects.
Current research project include:
1. Co-investigator: An NHS funded evaluation of the National HOPE(S) Programme to end long-term segregation (LTS) for all children and young people, autistic people and/or people with learning disability in inpatient hospital settings.
2. Co-investigator: An NHS funded study exploring models of care for people with learning disabilities involved with forensic services.

Teaching
I am currently a PhD External Examiner on behalf of Anglia Ruskin University. My focus is social work within adults services.
I have also taught both undergraduate (BSc) and post graduate (MA) (MSc) (social work) students. My areas of specialism consist of:
working with people who have learning disabilities, using legislation in applied practice, integrated and multi-disciplinary practice, research methods & public, patient involvement within research. Safeguarding Adults.
