Interests and expertise

I have passion for Modelling, Analysis and Simulation of Business Processes. I have been involved in Business Modelling as practitioner, trainer and educator for over 20 years. Specialising in applying computer-based simulation & modelling techniques to manufacturing/business systems through projects, developed simulation models for a variety of organizations, focusing on process improvements in many industries ranging from process – consumer – service industries. This extensive industrial experience has helped organisations/academia, practising engineers and managers a better understanding of their operations and decision making to achieve a competitive edge.

Teaching

Why do I teach?

I trained as a mechanical engineer gaining valuable
practical experience in a variety of engineering industries in the UK which led
to registration as a Chartered Engineer via the Institute of Mechanical
Engineers.

I have held a full time lectureship post at the MMU for 25+ years.
During this time, I have developed and taught on a variety of courses from
undergraduate, postgraduate to short courses (CPD) for industry in the areas of
business applications in Operations Management, Manufacturing systems,
Operational Research, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Discrete-Event
Simulation.

Quite by accident, I have developed a passion for Business
Modelling, Analysis and Simulation of Discrete Systems. This has enabled me to
be involved in Business modelling as a practitioner, trainer and educator for
over 15 years.
