My profile
Biography
I qualified as a Physiotherapist in 1997 and obtained my PhD from King’s College, London in 2006. I joined Manchester Metropolitan University in 2005 after working as a Senior Physiotherapist. I have experience working in primary, secondary and tertiary care, in the NHS and private sector. I teach physiotherapy at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and supervise PhDs. My research focuses on the spine and sports rehabilitation, and population segmentation. I am always happy to discuss ideas for research.

Why do I teach?
The American Ragtime composer, Scott Hayden, said: “Teachers have three loves; a love of learning, a love for learners, and the love of bringing the first two loves together.” It is the same for me.
How I’ll teach you
I won’t teach you; I will try my best to provide the best conditions in which you can learn. Funnily enough, Albert Einstein had the same philosophy.
Why study?
To contribute, in some small way, to improving health outcomes, reducing health inequality and reducing healthcare costs through teaching and learning, and research.
