Biography

Academic and professional qualifications

Alhussein is a motivated researcher and a lecturer with engaging style. He has been working for over 21 years with both industry and academia. After obtained a 1st class degree in Engineering Physics, Master of Science in Instrumentation Systems Engineering and PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Manchester University.

He has widely published in the fields of control and monitoring engineering, applications of artificial intelligence in low energy buildings and performance optimization of hybrid power systems. Contributions to public domain includes over 110 papers in refereed journals and international conference proceedings, 3 books on internal combustion engines, power electronics used for renewable energy systems and hydrogen fuel cells, 5 book chapters. Since 2009, Alhussein attracted some £11M in funding to support his research activities from Innovate-UK, EPSRC, EU, UK and overseas industry. To date, he has successfully supervised to completion 17 PhD, 3 MPhil, 9 MRes and over 35 MSc projects.
