Who am I?

As a first generation, care leaver university study was something that I came to a little later in life. I didn’t study A-Levels when I left school as I trained as a hair and beauty therapist before leaving the industry to pursue a career in Business. I entered university and undertook the equivalent of a Foundation Year before progressing onto a part time Degree Programme here at Manchester Metropolitan University.  I completed my degree in Business and ICT Education with Qualified Teacher Status graduating, summa cum laude with a 1st class honours degree from Manchester Metropolitan University and entering the teaching profession.

Teaching is my passion and developing effective pedagogy that is impactful to students, whilst teaching in Secondary Education I returned to Manchester Metropolitan University to complete a Masters Degree in Autism Spectrum Conditions and during this time I found that I had a passion for knowledge alongside teaching and applied to become a faculty member within the Business School. I am still working here over a decade later and my thirst for knowledge and education has only grown.

As a lecturer I have taught on a variety of units over the years, initially a decade ago I taught Accounting and Finance to first year Business Management students and this progressed to deliver very experiential units in entrepreneurship, which led me to pursuing my PhD in entrepreneurship education. 5 years ago I took on my first education leadership role in the development and delivery of a cross faculty Masters Level unit, which was focussed on professional practice and placements. This led me to finding my passion in employability and this is the area I continue to be passionate about.
