Why did you choose a degree apprenticeship?

I knew that I wanted to continue into higher education, but I had grown tired of listening to a teacher in the classroom, hearing about what I was meant to do when I entered the working world. I decided to do an apprenticeship so I could experience what work-life would entail. I’ve always been a practical person, someone who enjoys learning whilst working on projects. When hearing about apprenticeships, I was instantly drawn in. I applied for a Digital Marketing Degree Apprenticeship at the BBC. One of the key reasons for applying for this apprenticeship was that I would be able to get a degree, all the while I’d work in my desired profession. Furthermore, a degree would also allow me to progress in my industry. Having this benefit, I would not be held back from other jobs in the future.

How has the course been so far?

So far, the course has been exciting, and I leave each lesson feeling inspired. Not only that, but I am certain that I have learnt something new and valuable within each course. Whilst I am writing this I have completed three assignments- each assignment has helped me understand my role as a digital marketer. Manchester Metropolitan has supported me and my understanding of key knowledge that will guide me in my future career. My lectures and my skill coaches have been immensely encouraging throughout my course, and have offered me tips and advice during my assignments. However, what I really enjoy about the course is that the content is related to my job role, which is amazing as I know I will be able to make a contribution and put forward new insights to my team.

Last Words

For anyone looking into an apprenticeship and aspiring to have a career in Digital Marketing, I would highly recommend taking this opportunity. This is because an apprentice in the industry does truly benefit from having hands-on experience, coupled with the expert knowledge that will be received from University. Not only do you delve into the passion and enthusiasm you have, but the knowledge and experience that you get doing an apprenticeship would not be available if you were lacking either the work ethic or the education.
