Entry requirements
This information is provided as a guidance only. Some courses may have specific entry requirements that are listed on the relevant course page.
We advise you to check for any additional subject/course specific requirements before submitting your application.
During the application process we look at each application individually, holding the below qualifications doesn’t guarantee a place at the University.
Foundation
You must have a High School Diploma or High School Graduation Equivalency Examination with a minimum average grade of 65% / C / Rank of at least 5-6.
Undergraduate
We will consider students for undergraduate study who have completed a High School Diploma or High School Graduation Equivalency Examination with 70% plus a recognised Foundation Year.

The first year of a bachelor’s degree from a recognised institution. We typically require students to achieve a minimum of 3.3/4.5 or 2.8/4.0 or 3.0/4.3 or grade B or 80 average. Some courses may state specific subjects and grade requirements. Where a specific subject is required for entry, the previous minimum score listed must be achieved in this subject.
You should have the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) at level 6.0, with no scores less than 5.5 in any section. We may accept equivalent qualifications.
Undergraduate advanced entry and top-up degrees
You can apply to join a bachelor’s degree course at Manchester Met in its second or third year.
- To join a bachelor degree in the second year you must have completed:
Year two of a bachelor’s degree from a recognised institution. We typically require students to achieve a minimum of 3.3/4.5 or 2.8/4.0 or 3.0/4.3 or grade B or 80% average in year two transcripts.
- To join a bachelor degree in the third year you must have completed:
An associate degree or Junior College Diploma. We typically require students to achieve a minimum of 80% average.
Postgraduate
You must have a bachelor degree(학사) awarded by a university that is officially recognised in your country.
You should have the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) at level 6.5 with no scores less than 5.5 in any section. We may accept equivalent qualifications. Some postgraduate programmes have additional language requirements. If you know which programme you want to study, contact us to check its requirements.
English Language Requirements
You need to have a recognised English language qualification to study at Manchester Metropolitan.
The score required will vary depending on the qualification and your chosen course of study. If you hold an offer from the University, your offer will give you the specific requirements for your course.
Typical International English Language Testing System (IELTS) requirements are:
- 6.0 (no less than 5.5 in any section) or equivalent for undergraduate courses
- 6.5 (no less than 5.5 in any section) or equivalent for postgraduate courses

Visa requirements
You will need a visa to study in the UK unless you:
- are a British citizen
- are a citizen of a European Economic Area (EEA) member state or Switzerland
- have a visa to stay in the UK for another purpose that allows you to study. This might be because you are the husband, wife, partner or child of someone in the UK and have a dependent visa.

Tuition fees for 2023/2024 courses
Taught courses
You can use our online prospectus to check tuition fees for individual courses.
Some courses may have additional costs, for example for field trips, equipment, materials or professional / statutory body registration fees. Estimates are provided in the course listings. We will confirm fees as part of your offer.
Undergraduate taught courses
- If we classify you as an EU or Non-EU International student, you will normally pay between £17,000 and £18,500.
Postgraduate taught courses
- If we classify you as an EU or Non-EU International student, you will normally pay between £17,000 and £19,000.

Living costs
It sounds obvious, but your living costs really depend on your lifestyle – how you want to spend your free time.
We suggest you budget to spend at least £6,000 for the academic year, in addition to your accommodation costs and tuition fees. Around £9,000 will help you enjoy more of the sights and attractions that Manchester and the UK has to offer.

If you are currently studying at university in your home country and would like to experience studying in the UK, Manchester Metropolitan can offer you a range of opportunities.
If there’s an existing student exchange arrangement with your home university, you may be able to study with us as an exchange student. You can see the list of our exchange partners in your country below.
If we don’t have an agreement with your home university, you can still study with us independently through our Study abroad programme and international summer schools.
