Travelling to our campus

If you’re attending one of our Visit Days in 2024, you can get to our campus by train, bus, coach, tram, air, and car.

Unfortunately, we have no on-site visitor parking, but there are several public car parks and limited on-street pay and display spaces close by. We recommend arriving early to allow time to find a space or; alternatively, looking at the Transport for Greater Manchester’s Park and Ride options below.

  • Arriving by train

    Manchester Piccadilly train station

    You can follow the signs for Fairfield Street or taxi ranks and take the 147 bus to Oxford Road/Oxford House. The bus runs every 30 minutes Monday-Friday from 5:30am-7:50pm.

    Alternatively, you can catch the Manchester City Centre Free Bus service 1 and get off at Whitworth Street West. Continue onto Oxford Road and our campus is on your right. This service runs on Monday-Friday from 7:00am-7:00pm (every 10 minutes) and 7:00pm-11:30pm (every 30 minutes). The Saturday service runs from 7:00am-8:30am (every 15-30 minutes), 8:30am-7:00pm (every 10 minutes), and 7:00pm-11:30pm (every 30 minutes).

    You can also walk, which takes 10–15 minutes. From the Fairfield Street station exit, follow Whitworth Street and then left onto Oxford Road. Our campus is on your right.

    Manchester Oxford Road train station

    You can walk to our campus in five minutes. Turn right out of Oxford Road Station and walk underneath the railway bridge. Our campus is on your right.

    Manchester Victoria train station

    Follow the signs for the Manchester City Centre Free Bus service 2. Get off at Whitworth Street West and continue to Oxford Road and our campus is on your right. This service runs every 10 minutes on Saturday from 8:30am-7:00pm, and Monday-Friday from 7:00am-7:00pm.

  • Arriving by car

    Due to our city centre location, we do not have any visitor parking on campus.  

    There are several public car parks located in the city centre including NCP, APCOA Parking and CitiPark.

    Booth Street West Car Park, sometimes referred to as Higher Chatham/Cambridge Street car park, is also close to our campus and may be a suitable option for you. Access is via Higher Cambridge Street and the car park’s postcode is M15 6AR. Please note that this is paid parking and spaces may be limited on the day of the event.

    Transport for Greater Manchester also operates several Park and Ride services. We recommend using the East Didsbury Metrolink Park and Ride, Sale Water Park Metrolink Park and Ride or the Ladywell Metrolink Park and Ride. Please visit the TfGM website for full details.

  • Arriving by bus or coach

    Piccadilly Gardens Bus Station

    Take any of the following buses from Piccadilly Gardens and get off at Oxford House/Oxford House, just before the Mancunian Way: 15, 41, 42, 42A, 43, 44, 85, 111, 142, 143, 250 and 263.

    You can also walk to our campus in 10–20 minutes. Take Portland Street and then left on to Oxford Road.

    Shudehill Interchange

    Catch the 18 bus from the Shudehill Interchange and get off at Oxford Road/Oxford House, just before the Mancunian Way.

    Chorlton Street Coach Station

    Go left out of the station towards Portland Street. Take any of the buses that leave from Piccadilly Gardens and get off at Oxford Road / Oxford House, just before the Mancunian Way.

    You can walk to our campus in 10 minutes. Go left out of the station onto Portland Street and then left onto Oxford Road.

  • Arriving by tram

    The nearest tram stops to the University are St Peter’s Square and Deansgate-Castlefield. You can also catch the bus to the University from the tram stops in the city centre.

    Metrolink Stop St Peter’s Square

    You can walk to our campus within 10 minutes. Walk down Oxford Street/Oxford Road in the opposite direction to the Midland Hotel, past the Palace Theatre and Oxford Road train station. Our campus is on your right.

    Metrolink Stop Deansgate-Castlefield

    You can walk to our campus in 10 minutes. Walk down Whitworth Street West and turn right at Oxford Road train station. Our campus is on your right.

    Metrolink Stop Market Street/Piccadilly Gardens

    Follow the instructions from Piccadilly Gardens Bus Station to take the bus to Oxford Road / Oxford House.

  • Arriving by air

    Manchester Airport is just over 7 miles from our campus. Trains to Manchester Oxford Road run frequently throughout the day, taking about 20 minutes.

    On arrival at Oxford Road Station, turn right and walk underneath the railway bridge. Our campus is on your right.
