When you graduate from your course, you’ll be eligible to apply for professional registration with Social Work England and then practice as a registered social worker in settings including:

We’ll keep you up to date with vacancies across Greater Manchester, and as you approach qualification, we’ll support you with your interview preparation.

A master’s degree in social work provides you with many opportunities, here are some of the options available to you.

  • Mental Health Social Worker

    This is a very rewarding career where you’ll play a vital role in supporting people and empowering them to lead fulfilling lives. Your responsibilities will include:

    • assessing patient needs.
    • working together with individuals and other professionals to develop treatment plans.
  • Child and Family Social Worker

    In this important career, you’ll be responsible for:

    • providing support and intervention to vulnerable families to make sure they have what they need to thrive.
    • working alongside parents and other professionals to keep children safe and well.

    You may also work in fostering or adoption, to secure safe and supportive environments for children. 

  • Adult Social Worker

    Have a positive impact on many people’s lives by working with individuals that are facing complex issues. Your responsibilities could include:

    • undertaking safeguarding
    • carrying gout needs assessments
    • performing risk assessments
    • supporting people to make decisions that are in their best interest, where they cannot do so themselves
