How to enrol

Congratulations on starting your studies at Manchester Met.

Below are the steps to completing your enrolment and starting your studies here. You will need to complete enrolment each year of your study at Manchester Met.

If you’re starting your course in Autumn 2024, please note that you won’t be able to upload your photo and ID, enrol or access the Welcome site until mid-August when information is updated for the new academic year.

Photo upload and ID verification are done when you start here or begin a new course of study, such as moving from an undergraduate degree to a postgraduate programme.

If you have difficulty with your enrolment, contact our Enrolment Helpline at 0161 247 5959. Open weekdays, 9:00am-4:00pm.

Step-by-step guide to enroling

  • 1) Upload your Photo and ID verification

Start by uploading two photos for your Manchester Metropolitan student record. One should be a clear passport-style photo of yourself, the second a photo of your passport, driving licence or similar government-issued photo ID.

This is a required part of your enrolment and also serves to release any financial support you may be expecting from student loans or other funders once fully enrolled.

Log in using your student ID number found on your confirmation letter. For your initial password, use your date of birth in the case-sensitive format ddMmmyy (eg: 01Jan02).

  • 2) Complete your online enrolment

Enrol online using your student ID and password to log in. It may take a few days after your confirmation letter for your record to be set up in the enrolment system, so if it does not work then, give it a day or two before contacting us.

Online enrolment verifies we have you listed on the correct course. It asks you to confirm contact information and payment arrangements. There are also questions that we have to ask for statistical and reporting purposes.

As part of enrolment, we can help you register to vote if you are eligible to do so. (This service is for England, Wales and Scotland voters only). Please have your National Insurance Number ready if you wish to register.

  • 3) Visit your Welcome Page and find events

Visit your Welcome page for a personalised induction from your faculty, information about your course and any reading or projects to complete before starting. You’ll also find reading list links and a timetable once it is published.

Students on some professional, research or modular courses may be contacted directly via email from faculty or department with this information.

Visit the Welcome Events calendar for info on social and learning events to help you find your way.

  • 4) Collect your student ID card

Most students collect their ID cards on campus from the Student Hub during normal business hours. If you are a distance learner, please see instructions on the Welcome Page.

Please allow three business days between completing online enrolment (including upload of photo and ID) and when you plan to collect your ID card.

If you are expecting funding, note that confirmation to the Student Loan Company is based on successful ID verification (above) and enrolment, not card collection date.

Once you have your Manchester Met student ID card you should carry it with you whenever you are on campus. A valid student ID card is required for access the Library and other facilities. Ensure you make a note of your student ID number until you have your card.

  • 5) Attend your first session

It is essential that you attend all the scheduled course activities from the first day of term to ensure that you get the best start to your university studies.

Once enrolled, log in at MyMMU to access resources including your email and Moodle, where you’ll find resources to help you prepare for studying at Manchester Met. Make sure to visit the Getting Ready to Learn module on Moodle to help get a good start to your studies.

Visit the Student Life page regularly to discover opportunities and resources as well as to stay current on important University news. The Student Union offers student advice and representation, plus a way to get involved in a wide range of social opportunities, societies, and clubs throughout the year.
