Biography

I am a 2017 Sheffield Hallam University Inspiration Teaching Award Winner, a highly centric customer service professional, an experience chartered banker, credit operations and risk manager, business consultant, seasoned lecturer, entrepreneur, learning and development/training consultant, researcher and education manager with over 25 years’ experience covering marketing/sales, product development, risk operations, customer service, credit operations, enterprise risk, banking operations, research, consultancy,  education management and training.

I am chartered in banking (ACIB), with a Master of Technology (M. Tech) degree in Entrepreneurship from Tshwane University of Technology Pretoria South Africa, an Honours degree in Agricultural Economics and Extension (B. Tech Hons.) from Nigeria and currently enrolled as a doctoral student.

I am a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, FCIB-2015, having qualified as a Chartered Banker in 2003, a Fellow of Higher Education Authority UK, (FHEA) 2017, a Professional Banker South Africa (PBSA), an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Management of Nigeria AMNIM-2004 and a full member of the South Africa Institute of Management MSAIM-2012. 

Over the course of the past 25 years, I have worked as an Electronic Business manager (cards and other card products). I was responsible for strategy direction for cards and card services unit which includes market penetration, merchant acquisition and card products/point of sales machines marketing. I supervised the card and card products business unit. I have equally worked as Head of Customer Service, Head of Funds Transfer Local, Banking Operations Manager, Branch Manager and Head of Credit/ Marketing, (all in a universal banking licensed bank). These are all operations and relationship management roles.

As a banker, I have worked extensively with various customers at the bottom of the pyramid strategically designing various banking products to help improve the lots of individuals, corporate and commercial customers including small and medium scale enterprises, packaging credits and creating business opportunity for the bank while also working on various projects as a team member and team leader in other instances. I also function as an investment manager advising clients on various short and long-term investment portfolios

As the Head of Credit/ Marketing (Banking, Microfinance & Insurance products), I was directly responsible for strategic vision of both departments which is not limited to budgeting and implementation, product development/ product launch, all credit/ marketing (LC, Trade finance, Distributor finance etc.). I drive the balance sheet of the bank through the marketing/development/branding of various consumer products and the creation of quality risk asset portfolio amongst other major responsibilities to generate profit and implementing various banks policy in the process. I coordinate the activities of the activities of all the marketing strategic business units (Corporate, Commercial/Consumer/Retail and Public Sector) in under a universal banking license and was directly responsible for the supervision of the micro-finance and insurance staff of the bank.

As a credit manager, I have worked in partnership with enterprise risk management for loan restructuring and debt recovery on series of delinquent account. I have equally worked as banking operations head and pioneered the operations department of some branches. As an HR Partner I recruit personnel for all the units I have supervised as Head and I have been part of several change management process and organisational design.

As a lecturer, I have over 19 years’ experience sequel to my qualification as a Chartered Banker in 2003. I taught on the executive banking chartership examination programme some business management and banking related which includes but not limited to the following: Financial Management, Risk Management, Public Relations, Credit Analysis, Practice of Banking, Economics, Marketing, Strategic Management, International Finance, Management Theory and Practice and other management subjects.

As a training consultant and learning and development intervention specialist I have facilitated several training for various business units I have worked in the bank using various interventions to enhance the skills for efficiency and increase productivity for a period of 10years. I have also been severally involved as a learning and development consultant for some organisations in Gauteng province South Africa and Lesotho using several interventions based on identified gaps for a period of 10 years. I am accredited as a Trainer (train the trainer), Assessor and Moderator in Botswana.  I have equally worked with several SMEs as a banker and equally as an entrepreneur, advising on various aspects of their business in order to increase operational efficiency and profitability. I develop curriculum based on identified gaps and equally facilitate the short learning programmes.

As a Programme Leader for Entrepreneurship and Business Leadership, I steered the UG programme for a period of 3years and equally taught across various UG degree programmes. I am equally actively involved in professional development in Banking, Management, Entrepreneurship and Education which are my core areas of competence.  As an inspiration teaching award winner, I am able to inspire excellence in a team to ensure collective success. I was a Senior Lecturer and Programme Head, Entrepreneurship and Business Leadership at BAC- Gaborone. We partner with Sheffield Hallam University and University of Derby at undergraduate and Post graduate level. I taught high impact business sustainability and change management modules in entrepreneurship and business management and International Finance at Banking undergraduate degree programmes.

I was actively involved in strategic direction of the department which includes: curriculum development, lecturing (International Finance & Banking, Entrepreneurship and Business Management programmes), mentoring, coaching and supervision of undergraduate projects and strategy formulation and implementation and student management among other responsibilities. This is a Head of Department role with its attendant leadership responsibilities in strategic management and education. I plan the calendar of programmes for Entrepreneurship and Business Leadership department and I am responsible for steering Entrepreneurship programmes (Progression/Graduation) by liaising with our partners Sheffield Hallam University and University of Derby on Entrepreneurship Programmes.

I was twice a lecturer at Tshwane University of Technology South Africa where I taught Undergraduates and Postgraduates entrepreneurship and business management modules and also co supervised PG Dissertation. I was equally a learning and development/training consultant in the Southern African region facilitating training programmes for government agencies, African Training Institute (ATI) and other institutes in various subject areas. I was a Teaching Fellow Digital Business in Accounting and Finance Department at Oxford Brookes University Oxfordshire UK where I taught at UG and PG prior to joining Manchester Metropolitan University where I teach at UG & PG and equally supervise PG & UG Dissertation. I am the Level 4 Year tutor of Banking & Finance.
