Biography

My research interests are in the analysis of policy across a number of fields, with work on local taxation (Business Rates) , distributional effects of market institutions in countires of the global south and north, and health policy and governance . My work typically combines a pluralist view of economics with econometric analysis, which enables me to approach issues with a from a variety of perspectives. 

My current research is looking at:

  1. The effectiveness of Ecolabels: Decoupling Growth from its Environmental Impacts or a Market Illusion?
  2. The application of  Common Pool collaborative governance frameworks to devolved Health Governance, Incuding Integrated Care Systems in the NHS
  3. Evaluation of AI applications in cancer diagnostic accuruacy and the health economic implications

My PhD in Development Economics (fully funded) as well as a concurrent Masters in Public Health (MRC fund to develop e-health/Informatics Research) were awarded by the University of Dundee/ Ninewells Hospital. I have aslso been awarded Masters In Development Economics from the School of Oriental and African Studies (London University).

These studies underscore my breadth of knowledge on policy analysis and has enabled me to conduct or participate in externally commissioned research projects, from Rotherham Hospital, Rochdale Council, Salford College amongst others.
