My profile

Biography

I am passionate about embedding technology in the classroom with a view of helping students to be ‘work-ready’ by the time they step into the working environment. I believe that in this day and age, all students need to be fluent in technology and this should come naturally to them given enough exposure, and this is where I come in.

I believe technology can help enthuse and engage students. I use a flipped learning approach for my taught subjects. This involves the creation of cutting-edge video podcasts that are broken down into digestible 6 to 8 -minute concept videos which are followed by a Test-Your-Understanding (TYU) Activity to help the student assess their level of understanding while going through the content. After accessing the OnDemand Activities (podcasts and TYU), the students will come together in a session where they will work through scenario-based material that is designed to test their level of understanding. This session is run using Nearpod to present, collect feedback and actively involve each student in the session.
